Pastoral Letter 4th December 2022

Pastor Dorothy Choi

Christmas is just round the corner and 2023 is less than one month away. Have you made any plans for the coming year? Please mark your calendar for Sunday June 11, 2023, as it is a very special day for CPC.

It will be our church’s 130th Anniversary next year. It is a joyous occasion when we reflect and give thanks to God for His faithfulness to CPC. It is also a time for us to reunite and celebrate with brothers and sisters who attended CPC in the past. The celebration will include an afternoon service on June 11 at a concert hall at Chatswood followed, by dinner at a nearby restaurant.

There will be much for us to be thankful for throughout the long history of CPC especially in the way that God has carried us through the last few years, with the prevalence of the Covid pandemic. God has been faithful to us at CPC in order that we may fulfill His will and purposes for us and others whom we are called to serve. Therefore, the Lord will be glorified.

Just to share some highlights of the 100th Church Anniversary 30 years ago: more than 1700 people gathered at Town Hall; celebration banquets at two Chinese restaurants in Chinatown; a church history book commemorating 100 years of CPC; a leather bookmark for all participants. Some of us still have fond memories of the anniversary and keep that bookmark.

Please speak with Agnes Chiu or me if you have any suggestions on how we may give thanks to God at the anniversary this time. Please also pray for the committees as we prepare and plan the program for the day.
