Happy Father’s Day to all dads in CPC!
In the past two months, whether the chef at home was dad, mum or the kids, we have enjoyed more homecooked meals than ever before. Like all of you, I have been eating more often at home. One of my challenges is coming up with ideas for cooking. I am tired of repeating the same dishes and what to cook?
Other peoples’ recipes like stir fried beef strips with tomato and pawpaw and pork bone soup have given me new ideas, flavors and possibilities. Their successful receipts encouraged me to move forward in my cooking adventure. And even some of their failures have not been wasted as I learnt what not to try out next time.
Just like other people’s successful recipes, other people’s experience of faith can also encourage us to move forward in the face of uncertainties and difficulties. Through their experiences, we are able to see God’s faithfulness in their lives and God will remain faithful to us when we struggle. Other people’s failures are not wasted as they serve to remind us of our own weakness and what not to try out.
The words in Hebrews 12:1-2 are uplifting: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders…” “and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us”, since Jesus is the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.
Let us share our faith experience with one another and in doing so, encourage each other to be witnesses of Jesus’ faithfulness in our lives.
長老會的父親們，父親節快樂!
過去兩個月裡，無論家中主廚是父親、母親，或孩子們，我們都比以往享受了更多的家庭菜。我與你們一樣，多了在家用饍。其中的挑戰，就是要搜索新的菜譜、 不想常常煮同樣的菜式，需要想還有甚麼其他新菜式可以做的？
從別人給我的菜譜，例如蕃茄炒牛肉、木爪豬骨湯等，使我有新的啟發，在廚藝上有開發更多新口味的可能性。他們成功的菜譜鼓勵我繼續在烹飪的旅程裡前進。就算是他們失敗的例子也沒有浪費，因為我藉此吸取教訓。
同樣地，別人信仰的經歷亦如其他人成功的菜譜一樣，鼓勵我們在不明朗和困難時繼續向前。從他們信仰的經歷中，我們能看見神在他們生命上是何等信實，而當我們掙扎時，神也會對我們如此。其他人的失敗也沒有浪費，因為它們提醒我們自己的軟弱和勿步其後塵。
希伯來書12章1-2節激励我們，“既有這許多的見證人、 如同雲彩圍着我們，就當放下各樣的重擔…”，“奔那擺在我們前頭的路程.”， 因為耶穌是我們信心的創始者和完成者。
讓我們彼此分享我們的信仰經歷，並在這樣做的過程中互相鼓勵，成為耶穌在我們生活中信實的見證。
